“A mindbogglingly good, state comprehensive. Proving that consistent, well-managed, well-resourced, well-delivered and kind education for all can, and does, make a difference to a community.” (The Good Schools Guide, 2025)
The King's School is an 11-18 comprehensive school, which takes great pride in the promotion of excellence in teaching and learning, pastoral care and extra-curricular activities. Our core purpose of 'Achievement for All' encourages every student to develop their skills, interests and talents, not just through academic achievement but also through a rich variety of enrichment opportunities including house competitions, extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits.
For September 2026 we wish to appoint a compassionate Specialist Teacher (SEND) to work closely with students who require additional support to fully access their learning. This is a rewarding role for a teacher who is passionate about inclusion and dedicated to helping every child realise their potential.
You will play a key role in shaping and delivering high‑quality SEND provision, designing and teaching an adapted curriculum, and fostering a nurturing, engaging classroom environment. Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals, you will ensure that students feel supported, challenged, and fully included in the wider life of the school.
Please contact Mrs. Pocock at recruitment@thekings.devon.sch.uk for further details or see our website and apply online. The closing date is 09:00 on Tuesday 12th May 2026. It is anticipated that interviews will take place on Tuesday 19th May 2026.
When applying for the role, it is important that you refer to the school's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and the DBS Disclosure Policy, which can be found on our website (About Us – Policy Documents). We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of students, so all staff are enhanced DBS checked.
