Achievement for All

2nd in Science (Biology Specialism)

Full Time MPS/UPS + TLR 2a (£3,017)

For September 2023

The King’s School with 1120 students is an outstanding 11-18 comprehensive school with ambitious students, supportive parents and excellent facilities.  We have a strong reputation for success across the curriculum and an extra-curricular programme which is valued highly by the whole school community.  A commitment to the philosophy of ‘Achievement for All’ and a desire to work in an exciting, dynamic, creative and supportive way are essential for all staff at The King’s School.

For September 2023, we are looking to appoint a full-time 2nd in Science with a specialism in Biology.  The successful candidate will need to teach at least two Science specialisms (from Biology, Chemistry and Physics) at KS4 and all specialisms at KS3. A Level teaching would be available for a suitably qualified candidate.  We are also seeking a candidate who has a willingness to teach A Level Psychology.  It is important to us to have an enthusiastic and engaging 2nd in Science who will join and enrich our strong science leadership team and who can work under pressure, without losing their all-important sense of humour. All classes are taught in mixed-ability groups. Teaching science is lively, innovative, creative and rigorous, but – above all – fun.  The extra-curricular provision is also very strong, with a thriving and successful Science Club as well as a host of Gifted and Talented activities and curriculum-based trips and visits.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join an experienced and supportive department.  Due to the success of the subject at KS4 and 5, the ability to teach Biology A Level would be a significant advantage.

Please contact Mrs. Pocock for further details, or see our website and apply online.  The closing date is Monday 6th February 2023 at 9am with a view to interview the week commencing 20th February 2023.

When applying for the role, it is important that you refer to the school's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and the DBS Disclosure Policy, which can be found on our website (About Us – Policy Documents). We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of students so all staff are enhanced DBS checked.
